Safer Internet Day 2024

Today we are celebrating Safer Internet Day. Safer Internet Day is a global campaign to promote the safe and responsible use of technology. This year the theme is Inspiring change? Making a difference, managing influence and navigating change online’ which focuses on:

·        Young people’s perspective on new technology and the changes young people want to see online

·        Using the internet to make change for the better

·        The things that can influence and change the way young people think, feel and act online and offline

Using the internet safely and positively is a key message that we promote in our school and celebrating Safer Internet Day is a great opportunity for us to re-emphasise the online safety messages we deliver throughout the year. We would be delighted if you could join us in celebrating the day by continuing the conversation at home. To help you with this you may be interested in downloading the free Safer Internet day resources for parents/carers available at https://saferinternet.org.uk/safer-internet-day/safer-internet-day-2024/parents-and-carers

Bernard Gilpin Primary School website https://www.bernardgilpin.com/online-safety also has a range of information and resources to support you with online safety including:

·        How to keep safe online

·        Guides to popular gaming apps, social media, technology and wellbeing.

Online safety is an important issue which school is committed to teaching our children about. If you have any concerns, please contact Mr Iveson, Online Safety Lead for school.
